EU Mentoring Network: Open Call Class of 2025

The EU Mentoring Network is an advisory and support programme that encourages early-career researchers (R2 and R3) to make earlier and more frequent use of EU application formats, currently ERC Starting and Consolidator Grants in particular, as effective funding instruments. The network is headed by the Vice-Rector for Research, Prof Dr Monika Stoll, and Prof Dr Ryan Gilmour who is also the chairman.

ERC grant applications are professionally supported by a mentoring team: Each team consists of two experienced researchers and consultants from Münster-based European Research Services GmbH (ERS), who have many years of expertise in advising on ERC applications.

The Mentoring Network is organized in annual classes and interested scientists are supported in writing their ERC application in a closed network. In addition to being personally mentored by two experienced researchers, mentees will undergo a training programme run by ERS GmbH, who are highly experienced in counselling. The training programme includes detailed introductions to all application areas and feedback sessions. In addition, ERS GmbH is available as an experienced contact partner throughout the entire application process.

ERC Starting Grants can be applied for by excellent researchers within a period of two to seven years after their doctorate. Extensions of the period are possible (e.g. due to parental leave). Up to 1.5 million euros can be raised for a period of up to five years.

ERC Consolidator Grants can be applied for by excellent researchers in a period of seven to twelve years after the doctorate. Here too, extensions are possible under certain conditions, such as parental leave. Up to 2 million euros can be raised for a period of up to five years.

ERC Grants are highly competitive and researchers must have reached a certain level of independence.

The next class starts in November 2025. Please send an Email with your CV to Nicola Willenberg, nicola.willenberg@uni-muenster.de if you want to applicate. Applications are accepted until 30 September 2024.
