In February this year, the European Commission announced the launch of a new technology and innovation platform for research and innovation in the battery sector, “BatterRIes Europe“.

The platform is coordinated by EIT InnoEnergy which is also one of the facilitators of the European Battery Alliance, as well as the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) and the European Association for the Storage of Energy (EASE).
Bringing together private and public actors and industrial and research stakeholders its aim is to drive research and innovation, knowledge transfer and competitiveness across the European battery value chain.

The ETIP will hold its kick-off meeting on 25 June 2019 in Brussels. Currently, the platform is still looking for experts to engage in the discussions within one of the six planned working groups. The submission of an expression of interest for this is still possible until 16 June.
