Welcome to the web page of the WWU Centre for Europe,

with the Lisbon strategy, the EU has set itself the goal of making Europe one of the most competitive regions of the world. To achieve this goal, we need international and interdisciplinary research in collaborative research projects at European and national level. With the establishment of WWU Centre for Europe in December 2015, the University of Münster is active in Brussels, to support the internationally active WWU researchers in positioning themselves in the EU funding landscape. The goals of the WWU Centre for Europe are the pooling, support, justification and encouragement of all Europe-related activities at the WWU. Find out more about our activities, our members and our current EU-funded projects. You can also have a look at our brochure about EUropean Research at the WWU Münster to explore the various possiblities.

Register as an expert in Horizon Europe

As applications to the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe are peer-reviewed, there is a correspondingly large demand for reviewers. The European Commission published a call for expressions of interest on 24 March 2021, seeking experts to review EU programmes in the 2021-2027 framework programme. The experts are expected to support the Commission and other European institutions in the implementation of the programmes, including the peer review of project proposals in the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe.

Working as an expert can help you gain an insight into European funding policy and learn about the applicable evaluation criteria. If you are an individual who would like to provide your expertise to the various EU funding programmes, you can register in the EU databases at any time. To do so, follow the link:

Experts already registered in the database are requested to update the information in their profile so that they are automatically considered for the new programme period starting now.

Open Access

After a pilot action in FP7, Open Access was anchored as a general principle in  Horizon 2020. In principle, scientific publications in the context of a project funded by Horizon 2020 must be provided free of charge and publicly accessible online. The University of Münster supports researchers with services around Open Access publishing, including e.g. financial support. More information as well as contact persons for specific questions can be found here.
