“Women in Research” (WiRe) is part of Germany’s campaign “Research in Germany” and aims at attracting highly qualified female Postdocs from all over the world to take opportunities at German Universities into account for major steps on the academic job ladder. The project is settled at the Westfälische Wilhelms-University (WWU) Münster/Germany, a large and comprehensive university that provides excellent research and career opportunities as well as extensive support for international scholars: Our Welcome Centre offers support and advice before, during and after your research stay about legal issues, visa question, insurance and financial necessities and family concerns. Further services at the WWU are available as well as good cooperation structures with several municipal authorities. WiRe builds upon existing structures within and outside of the University and will develop further networks to support excellent female Postdocs in pursuing their academic careers without having to choose between family and career. An intrinsic part of WiRe is the possibility to use different means of public relations and channels of science communication to publish and disperse the results of your research at WWU Münster and become an inspiring role model for future female scientists.

Postdoctoral fellowships for female researchers

What we want:

• excellent international female Postdocs or Professors
• special focus on STEM-related fields (1st call: apply until May 15th), open to all subjects from 2nd call (apply until June 15th or September 30th) on
• develop ideas of how to spread word of your research project and experience at WWU
• involvement of a professor at WWU

What we offer:

• fellowship of 2000 €/ per month
• for a period of 1 up to 6 months
• 500 € child care / family bonus per month possible
• additional funding for conference participation and printing costs available
• excellent research and career development opportunities
• full access to the support structures of our Welcome Centre
• access to all of the WWU’s communication channels and networks
• workshops and mentoring
• become part of our Research Alumni Programme and make use of its opportunities

Fellowship conditions:

• research project or idea of a research project in cooperation with a professor of WWU
• which can be executed during 1 – 6 months with a presentable result
• develop a strategy of how to spread word of your research/work/results/experience at WWU
• bring your family
