PhD students present solutions for the cities of the future

All over the globe more and more people work and live in cities. The sustainable and humane design of urban areas is therefore a main challenge of the 21st century. Experts believe that the concept of "smart cities" is of great importance in the development of solutions: The goal is to plan and develop cities in such a way that they become more worth living through the skilful use of technologies and at the same time conserve resources. Migration Ethics and Open Borders

Political scientist Joseph Carens on immigration, political realities and philosophy

Prof. Dr. Joseph Carens, Professor of Political Theory at the University of Toronto, Canada, will speak on migration ethics on 5 November. The evening lecture in English entitled “Immigration, Political Realities, and Philosophy” will take place at 6 pm in lecture theatre JO 1, Johannisstraße 4, as part of the 22nd Münster Lecture in Philosophy. Visiting Fellow at the Cluster of Excellence in the winter semester 2018/19 at the invitation of philosopher Dr. Matthias Hoesch, Joseph Carens is regarded as one of the most renowned authors in the as yet young discipline of migration ethics.

Inforamtion about success stories and statistical data on all member states has been added. UnILiON official launch event

Brussels university network brings together more than 120 participants

UnILiON organised its launch event on 16 October, at Foundation Universitaire premises, in Brussels. The “Universities Fast Forward: Value in Diversity”, moderated by Science|Business managing director Maryline Fiaschi, was the first event in a new, yearly series organised by UnILiON, an informal network of over 40 liaison offices representing more than 130 excellent universities based in Europe, Japan and Russia. The Brussels office of the WWU Münster is actively involved in the network.

Call for Abstracts - Beyond Interregnum: a conference on the future architecture of Europe

Europe is facing a crisis of democracy. Anti-pluralist stances, racism and social inequality are increasing and it seems right to speak of a great regression2 . The crisis is further enhanced by the fact that the establishment seems to struggle in finding answers to these phenomena let alone strategies to tackle them. Furthermore, decision makers seem not able to sufficiently cope with a globalized world, neoliberal rigour and the ‘fear’ of ‘the citizens’ – or at least not able to convey the electorate that they do so.

Portal "Funding & Tender Opportunities" replaces EC's Participant Portal

 

In September 2018, the European Commission launched its new "Funding & Tender Opportunities Portal". It is going to replace the previous Participant Portal, which will be ashut down at the end of the year. All information on centrally coordinated EU funding programs can be found on the new portal as well as the management of funded projects. Additionally, information on procurement was added to the website. Its keyword and context search was improved. Personal access to the portal (EU login) still applies.
