Applied mathematicians are funded by the EU

The RISE-network with 23 partners take new methods for image and data processing into practice

For a european research network, that surveyed new methods for image and data processing in applied mathematics, the european comission funded 1,1 million Euro within the "Marie-Skłodowska-Curie" measures. The Münster university's mathematicians Prof. Dr. Martin Burger and Dr. Daniel Tenbrinck together with Prof. Dr. Carola Schönlieb from Cambridge University, coordinate the project in which 23 universities and industrial partners participate.

The European Institute for Molecular Imaging has its 10th anniversary

The institute directors host a symposium on 5th of december

The „European Institute for Molecular Imaging“ (EIMI) of the Münster University celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and also the appointment of Prof. Dr. Friedemann Kiefer, who is now Professor for intravital molecular imaging. 50 employees from diverse fields use and develop imaging techniques in the European institute for Molecular Imaging. With those they can make molecular processes in organisms, tissue and cells visible. The imaging is used to research the development of vessels, inflammatory vessel diseases, infects and neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.

WWU-Volkswirt Prof. Dr. Andreas Löschel wird ökonomischer Leiter des EU-geförderten Forschungsinstituts "VISE"

The energy demand of private households, flexible energy supply with virtual power plants and smart technology for firms - these topics will be surveyed by the recently founded 'Virtual Institute Smart Energy (VISE)' lead by the Münster University and the TH Köln. Firms and research institutes analyse jointly the technical and economic aspects of a digitalised energy world and develop new projects and products.

New EU-supported Erasmus+ project WeTalent

Europe simply cannot afford to waste talent. Therefore, nine organisations strongly committed to talent development in higher education have now joined forces to develop tools that can help teachers spot and stimulate talents. Their WeTalent project has received EU funding under the Strategic Partnerships program within Erasmus+ Key Action 2, allowing it to run from September 2017 to August 2020.
